Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary Teen Mentoring program is a unique pairing of perspective and experience. While mentoring is most often thought of as an adult and youth relationship, teen mentoring is a remarkable approach that helps youth and children help each other.
Since the fall of 2005, this program has been matching high school students with local elementary school children to help them deal with such issues as bullying, poverty and family violence, which have become a very real part of our schools and community.
Teen mentoring not only gives the children the opportunity to share a special activity with their mentor and help in overcoming these issues, it also gives the teens the opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful and positive way.
Through this innovative program, Calgary teens are truly making a difference in the lives of other children.
Safe Haven Foundation is helping to make that difference.
